Make the study of philosophy a mandatory part of our public education system.

Created by T.K. on February 03, 2014

Philosophy is the oldest educational subject known to the western world. Many muse that it has lost it's practicality over the past hundred or so years but nothing could be farther from the case. There is a crisis in America today: namely that people have lost the critical and thoughtful eye requisite to make informed decisions in both their personal lives and in the public sphere. We are living in an age of intellectual decadence, in which the surplus of information provided by the internet, and the deficit of the cognitive tools necessary to analyze and utilize such information, combine to leave the modern American with unwarranted overconfidence to the point of political and personal paralysis. We need to teach people to think again. We need philosophy.
