American football is a sport unique to this country. Football has deep roots in American culture, and Super Bowl Sunday has become an event that even non-football fans celebrate with their friends and family. Last year, nearly 167 million people in this country gathered together to watch the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl has become more than just a sporting event - it is a uniquely American tradition that captivates the country each and every year regardless of the individual teams involved.
We therefore request that the Obama Administration make Super Bowl Sunday a permanent national holiday. This will give this unique American sporting tradition the recognition it deserves as an irreplaceable part of our American culture.
