make sure that every patient who is seeing a therapist or any other psychologist has their social media monitored

Created by C.S. on February 20, 2014

Last week, my best friend, Jayah, committed suicide by jumping off of the roof of a building. She had a history of depression and self-harm, but this event was a big shock, as she had been seeing a therapist and had gotten medication for her depression. However, her FaceBook page showed a much different story, with statuses saying that people were trying to get her to kill herself, that there were petitions for her to commit suicide, that she didn't want to stop thinking suicidal thoughts or stop self-harming. Even though I was a close friend, this didn't seem evident to me when we hung out, but now I know it was a cry for help. I propose that every therapist should have access to monitor all social media accounts for every patient they have. People are more likely to type than talk.
