make sure that the income tax percent rich people pay is not less than the income tax percent that poor people pay

Created by T.R. on October 22, 2011

The President made an excellent point about Warren Buffett paying less as a percent of his income as his secretary does. I think that rich people shouldn't pay less as a percent of their income as poor people. So, put an alternative minimum tax on rich people that requires their total percent to be the same as poorer people have to pay. If that secretary made $50,000 per year and was paying 20% of her income in taxes, then Warren Buffett should pay 20%. That way he's not paying less than his fair share for the services and protection that Government provides. In fact, all rich folks ought to pay their fair share. Let's make sure that even with all their deductions and tricks, the top 10% of earners have to pay 10% of the total income taxes collected.
