Tampons and pads are necessary for all girls and women who have reached puberty, but aren't cheap. If a girl starts her period around age 14 and hits menopause at age 50, she'll use about 168 tampons a year or 6,048 tampons over the course of her lifetime.This equals $2,268 that she must spend to keep her clothes clean and herself odor free. While pads are cheaper ($2,016/lifetime), this is still an unfair tax on a biological function. Since there is no equivocal item that men have to buy, it is my sentiment and the sentiment of those who sign this petition that these required items be free.
