Over the years, telemarketing has become so invasive that there is now a National Do Not Call Registry.
The unfortunate truth is that telemarketers stretch the legal exceptions to the law and are frequently finding and exploiting loopholes. Consequently, they continue to invade our homes regardless of our registration on the list.
Worse yet, The Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported that nearly 15 million people work evening and night shifts, meaning those people are likely trying to sleep during the very hours that telemarketers have been encouraged to make their calls.
The purpose of this petition is to make telemarketing opt-in only. The default should be DO NOT CALL, and the registry should be for those who wish to be called. If you are not on the list, you cannot be called.
