Telephone companies should pay $1.00 for every telemarketing call people get. Our phones should be for people we want to talk to, not those trying to rip us off.
We can't pick up since we get over 100 telemarketing calls a month even with our number on the FTC's Do Not Call list since 2003. Most telemarketers don't leave messages. If we pick up, often no one is on the line because robot dialers call more people than they can handle so they don't have to wait to talk to us.
Telephone companies have the technology to stop this, but don't use it because they're making too much money from telemarketers. So our service that isn't worth what we are paying for it. Therefore the telephone companies should repay us for the nuisance they cause by enabling telemarketers to harass us.
