Employers use the term "Mandatory Overtime" as a way of forcing their employees to work more than 40 hours a week with threats of persecution for any employee that refuses. This is a form of slavery. Employees should never be forced to work longer then their contracted hours. Mandatory overtime is essentially forced labor. If we eliminated the mandatory part of it, it would force employers to either A: hire more employees, B: Hire more temporary employees, or C: limit their orders from customers to the capability of the employees to accomplish the goals within a 40 hour work week. This in turn would generate more jobs and allow employees more time to spend their wages thus improving the economy, family values, and health of the employees.
