This is a request to the government to open up all aspects of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) to public scrutiny.
A government which tries to circumvent public opposition by means of secrecy cannot be called democratic. The people have a right to know the terms and conditions of the agreements being negotiated in their name. The government has no business signing international agreements that the citizenry has not had the chance to scrutinize.
Public scrutiny of the government and policy is the cornerstone of a free and democratic nation. Can the USA claim to be a land of freedom and democracy when its people are denied this right?
