Make tougher laws & charges for physical violence/abuse against women and children...no more trauma and death

Created by D.A. on April 30, 2014

Calling for tougher penalties/laws for physical abusers.

Every 9 seconds in the US a woman is assaulted or beaten by her intimate partner. A woman is more likely to be assaulted or beaten by her intimate partner than a stranger on the street. 1 out of 3 women will be beaten or forced to have sex during her lifetime.

55% - 95% of women who have been physically abused by their partners had never contacted shelters, or the police for help. Most women are afraid to speak up about the abuse for fear of retaliation from their abuser or fear that no one will believe her. Studies show that each year up to 10 million children witness some form of domestic violence.

I am a professional woman w/ a doctorate who has been physically abused by my husband (w/ a knife) in front of our child.
