We the people of the United States find that those who we elect to represent us are hideously out of touch with a large portion of Americans. We believe that it is impossible to represent people with whom you cannot relate.
In order to provide the men and women of the United States Congress an important perspective that they'd otherwise likely miss out on, I propose a new requirement for serving in Congress to be implemented as an executive action, constitutional amendment, or otherwise: No sitting member of Congress shall receive salary or be eligible for Congressional benefits until they have worked at a full-time public retail job in exchange for minimum wage payment and lived exclusively off of that minimum wage payment for at least two weeks during their time as a member of Congress.
