Make unemployment insurance fall under mandatory spending programs

Created by C.A. on January 09, 2013

According to the CBO, the Tax Policy Center, and multiple nonpartisan economists, unemployment benefits are the best stimulus to the economy. Not extending unemployment benefits for 2013 would have wrecked our economy and killed over 400,000 jobs. Unemployment benefits are the best way to protect the economy because they are a direct stabilizer to weakened demand during a recession.

Unemployment insurance is possibly the most important public program that the federal government can provide, so we the people believe that unemployment insurance should no longer need to be extended, this spending program should be mandatory and permanent like Medicare or Obamacare. Enact legislation to permanently protect unemployed worker benefits.
