The U.S. standard is not "standard." There have been aircraft travesties and worse due to the unnecessary requirement of conversion. The United States is the only country to not use "metric" where it's necessary. Convert the United States to a metric system for the sake of standardization in all of science as well as mundane regulation. This includes but is not limited to temperature (Celsius), length, velocity, and weight. It would benefit all of mankind to have a standard regulation of scale and since the United States is behind the curve, it is up to us to adapt the global standard. We need to stop being arrogant and start being accepting and adaptive. This is a major step. Let's do this for the better of our world.
