Make the United States Post Office accountable for lost and mishandled mail.

Created by R.S. on November 17, 2012

Instead of making employees accountable for their actions the resulting costs for mishandled mail often fall upon the shipper of the items (In concept this makes no sense: If you brought your dog to the groomer and the groomer lost your dog the groomer would not tell you to go back to the breeder to get another dog.) Losing mail and holding the shipper responsible is especially unacceptable in cases where the shipper has paid for tracking, yet the item still gets lost. A point system needs to be in place where incorrect deliveries can be tracked by mail carriers and steps can be taken if a mail carrier is deemed to have a high rate of mistakes. It is no surprise that many universities and laboratory suppliers use other carriers than USPS because USPS is unreliable.
