Internships that are unpaid or underpaid are nothing more than a way for companies to take advantage of free labor and still profit from the goods and/or services the "employees" provide them.
The practice of unpaid/underpaid internships:
-endorses the use of under qualified candidates in positions that should be filled with educated/certified applicants.
-allows businesses to profit from free labor; something that should be frowned upon with these "record profits" they are making.
-creates a higher than normal poverty rate that includes educated candidates unable to work for free.
-creates an unfair advantage for applicants of these positions that are based on financial status (ability to work for free) versus actual talent and ability to perform the job requirements correctly.
