We the people ask the federal government to Propose a new Administration policy:

Make "US Blues" by the Grateful Dead our new national anthem.

Created by M.M. on September 09, 2016

While any competent singer should be able to handle the range of an octave and a half, singers at public events are often incompetent and butcher it with distorting, tasteless showboating. Some of them don't bother to check what meter it's in. It's too late to save the actual tune. The US has produced some of the greatest music in the world: rock, jazz, blues, and more. Part of American exceptionalism is the fact that we're cooler than everyone else. Our current anthem is a hokey tune with square 19th century harmonies that could have been written by any Englishman after a few beers. A lot of people hate the Grateful Dead, but they are a quintessentially American band and “US Blues” is still a better choice. Chuck Berry's "Promised Land" would also work.
