Current Civil Asset Forfeiture laws allow police to take and keep up to 100% of all money and items seized from a person accused of using a item to perform a illegal action, without being charged with a crime. Proving that you are not guilty of such is too expensive for a majority of Americans to pay for. The police are supposed to protect the American people, not rob them at gunpoint on the side of the highway. If these laws continue, then eventually the police can just break down your door one day and take something, let's say it's a gun and you are a licensed hunter. If the police think you might use it in a crime, they can just take that gun from you and you have no affordable recourse. How can you teach children to respect the police when the police behave like Criminals?
