make the US patent and copyright system more accessible to the common citizen, including youth

Created by T.D. on June 26, 2014

I am 17 years old and currently trying to obtain a patent for a new concept which I have come up with. Unfortunately, the US patent system is one which can only be navigated through a patent lawyer. Unfortunately, someone of my age is unable to afford hiring a lawyer. You could argue that I could consult a company which "helps" inventors pursue their ideas, but those companies require a large percentage of any money produced by your invention if it ever even becomes successful. I do not come here asking for a Death Star or some sort of ridiculous holiday in honor of some comic book character no one has ever heard of. I come here asking for a complicated system to be streamlined in order for a young person like myself and many others can pursue their original ideas.
