Make Vaccinations a Financial Responsibility by Creating Fines for Refusal to Vaccinate Against Key Viruses

Created by J.G. on February 10, 2015

In 2014 there were 644 cases of measles reported to the CDC, representing the largest number of cases since the CDC reported the elimination of measles in the US in 2000. Those individuals who choose not to vaccinate are responsible for the lowered herd immunity towards viruses such as measles and pertussis.
I ask that the CDC's recommendations for the HepA, HepB, MMR, DTaP, IPV, PCV and RV vaccines be required for all US Citizens and Permanent Residents (except immunocompromised patients), with non-compliance resulting in a penalty of $5,000 per vaccine violation per year, up to $20,000 per year per person.
The money from the fines should go towards the treatment of immunocompromised patients who become sick due to the lowered herd immunity from the anti-vaxxers and vaccine research.
