Chelation is a treatment used for heavy metal poisoning. It involves filtering the blood to remove any poisons. It is a dangerous treatment even when used correctly. The side effects include but are not limited to:fever, nausea, kidney failure, bone marrow depression, respiratory arrest, convulsions, headache, hypertension, and death.
Among people who believe vaccines cause autism, chelation is used to "cure the autism". There has been no evidence to indicate that chelation is a treatment for autism. There have been reported deaths of autistic children who underwent this "therapy".
Please don't allow autistic people to abused in this way. Make the use of chelation therapy in autistic people illegal. It's use is founded in ignorance and prejudice towards the autistic community.
