We the people ask the federal government to Propose a new Administration policy:

Make Volunteered Professional Services Tax Deductible

Created by B.M. on September 04, 2016

We propose that the federal government offer a tax incentive for knowledge workers to donate their time towards a government agency or nonprofit.

Right now, the “gift of services” is currently exempt from any tax deduction, mainly because of the difficulty ascertaining the value of the volunteer’s time. We are suggesting that this exemption be re-evaluated to factor in volunteered time for professional services (such as technical and legal work).

This tax incentive would specially target salaried citizens, retirees, and those depending on investment income who maintain skill sets with a discernible market value.

We each have individual skill sets that could make a huge difference not just at a federal level, but within our local communities. Let's use them for the greater good!
