Even without discriminatory voting laws and gerrymandering, our voting process already discriminates against those without flexible work schedules, and a means of transportation.
Our democracy is suffering from an all-time low in terms of voter interest and participation in the political system. Special interest groups are spending unlimited amounts of money to rig the system in their favor. Voting can be made mandatory by means of a fee given to those who fail to vote. We already require people to appear for Jury Duty, why not elections.
A national voting holiday would be an ideal solution to discrimination, low-participation, and influence from special interests.
It’s about time we fixed our broken political system.
