This is a petition to introduce compulsory (mandatory) voting in the United States.
The poor and the young are the most underrepresented groups in our political system. These groups tend to vote infrequently, yet have the most to lose from decisions made by elected leaders. The government's policies are often dictated by special interest groups and corporations. The only way to counteract this decay of democracy is to compel every citizen to vote in their own interest.
