Make Voting Day a national holiday.

Created by A.B. on August 29, 2013

With mounting efforts to disenfranchise young, minority, elderly, and poor voters, making Election Day a national holiday would help thwart those endeavors.

Declaring Election Day a national holiday would enable those working for government agencies like schools and colleges to get to the polls to wait as long as necessary, and to help others get to the polls.

Many other nations have national holidays for their voting days. Declaring Election Day a national holiday would improve voter turnout and participation among young people and demonstrate that the nation values true democracy.
