Election Day should be a holiday. This would allow those who work to more easily vote. It would increase the number of volunteers available to man the polling places on election day, thus decreasing election costs. This move would also decrease costs for elections by lowering the need for early voting and vote-by-mail ballots. Most importantly it would increase voter turn out and allow more Americans to exercise their rights as American citizens. One of three possibilities should be considered: 1) Create a new national holiday on the first Tuesday of November. 2) An existing holiday should be moved to coincide with the first Tuesday of November. 3) Election day should be moved to an existing holiday.
