Make voting mandatory for all US citizens of legal voting age

Created by A.V. on June 19, 2014

Make voting mandatory for all US citizens of legal voting age (unless convicted of voter fraud).

To accommodate increased voting volume, institute a policy as follows:
- at 4 weeks prior to the official election day, allow absentee ballots
- at 2 weeks prior to the official election day, open enough polling locations so that each eligible voter is no more than 7 miles from an available polling location. Proposed Schedule: Noon - 9:00 PM seven days per week.
- During the 3 days prior to the official election day, open the traditional polling locations. Proposed Schedule: 6AM to 11PM.
- The number of staff and functioning polling machines at each polling location will be directly proportional to the population in that particular voting region.

Such a policy would create a true democracy.
