Our welfare is a disaster. People will live on it their entire life because it is free money. Once you get a job, you no longer can receive welfare benefits. Would you like to get $40,000 a year (just an example, not actual amount) on welfare and not work, or work and get $40,000 a year? Yeah, everyone wants the former. There should be a set number of months that you can receive welfare for, so that once you know that your check will not be coming for much longer, you will be stepping up the efforts to get a job. You should, however, be able to prove that you cannot find a job if you honestly need to continue to receive benefits. But welfare tends to create a perpetually poverty-stricken family that will never want, or even need to find a job because they get free money handed to them.
