Making Oil from Trash

Trash is getting to be a huge problem and is a major source of pollution. We now have a mindless process of disposal in landfills. This is a waste of land and all the raw material of which trash is composed as well a huge pollution source. My idea will eliminate landfills and recycle all the stuff contained in our trash. This is a big project and cannot be done in anyone's garage. And it is partly done by current sorting systems, but, I want to go much deeper in recycling the stuff we now bury in landfill. This can be done by simple processes if good engineering is applied to basic difficulties such as sorting and chemical processes leading to transforming our trash into useful raw material like oil, metal and glass. It is the oil that can be produced from trash I am mostly interested in
