In the US there is an extreme amount of wasted energy. In fact, we our now the leading nation, including China, in wasted energy, with an efficiency rate of merely 42 percent. The US Energy Administration has estimated that industry consumes the majority of our energy each year. This is partly due to our outdated methods of energy retrieval. Although there are renewable energy sources available, the US still uses coal, petroleum, and natural gas, leading to the high inefficiency rates. There is little change being seen in riding your bike to work or changing the lightbulbs you use in your house. If we want to see any real change, business and industry need to reform their means of obtaining and using energy.
