Landfills make up 18% of the methane that contributes to global warming. Our landfills are expanding because of the country's lack of reusable materials. If all produced materials were infinitely recyclable, we could begin reducing our landfills and our greenhouse gases.
The American recycling system is broken. Approximately 23% of Americans do not recycle. Of the remaining 67% who do, most do not know that the items they are recycling are dangerous to their health and the environment.
If all produced materials were infinitely recyclable and safe down to the 100 parts per million, everyone would always be recycling materials that were safe for humans and the environment.
