In the wake of the Newtown shooting, it's clear that we as a nation need to have a conversation about access and regulation of firearms. However, it's also clear that our nation remains divided on whether it's appropriate for the citizenry to own guns, and if they do so, what sort of firearms they should be.
I think part of the reason people own guns is because they look awesome and scary. However, people probably aren't too comfortable admitting that. To ameliorate this problem, I propose that legislation mandate that all guns be painted bright pretty colors. Also, maybe we could etch positive messages into the receiver, stock, or gun barrel. Things like: LIFE IS AMAZING. These cosmetic features will not affect gun function or availability.
