Mandate that all health insurance companies provide coverage for bariatric surgery if the patient is obese.

Created by T.P. on April 27, 2014

According to the Center for Disease Prevention and Control, more that a third of the U.S population is considered obese. Meanwhile, as the number of people becoming obese increases, the number of people getting bariatric surgery lags behind. The reason for this is that many insurance companies chose not to cover the surgery. This surgery has often times cured type II diabetes and other obesity-related problems. It is important to allow all obese peoples, who have developed or are at risk of developing type II diabetes or other obesity-related problems, to have access to this expensive procedure, without paying out of pocket.
