After the recent tragedy in Spanish Fork Utah where a suspect shot two deputies separately (killing one) by firing into their cruisers windshields, it's apparent that law enforcement need to be better protected.
Sgt. Cory Wride 44, was shot behind the wheel of his patrol car while doing a background check of the suspect, who had fired from a sliding back window of his pickup. Afterwards, he shot another deputy during a high-speed chase from the same back window, striking the officer who is now in critical condition.
Had the patrol cars been equipped with bulletproof glass, the officers could very well be ok today.
