Currently only 22% of American businesses observe Veterans Day. This petition is to mandate the other 78% of businesses to honor their employees who are honorably discharged veterans with a paid day off, or if the veteran wishes to work on Veterans Day, then the private business must pay that veteran a Holiday wage. The veterans accrued vacation/sick/PTO or days off the company already celebrates (i.e., the day after Thanksgiving, etc.) cannot be substituted for having Veterans Day off. This mandate shall apply to all businesses no matter what size or how many veterans employed.
