The second amendment reads "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
This is a reasonable law to pass, but the current political climate has prevented it from being carried out correctly. To be specific, I am referring to the lack of concrete safeguards against mentally unstable people acquiring firearms. While I do not necessarily approve of the use of firearms, I respect the rights of others to possess them. The problem is, I don't respect the right to hold a firearm when you are unfit to do so. A firearm is literally one of the worst possible things anyone could give to a mentally unstable person, as the incident in CT, as well as others have shown. It is not too soon. Far from it.
