The commotion over people's rights to own guns lately has made me think, who is to blame when a crime occurs? Is it the gun's fault, or is it the person's fault? In most cases, it legally is not considered the person's fault due to their mental health, however, this begs the question, if we were to have provided these people with mental help, would they have committed the crime?
Whether it be rape, murder, or assault, a large portion of crimes COULD BE PREVENTED if we made citizens get mental evaluation and then followed up with mental help including but not limited to counseling, medication, and therapy for those who prove to be mentally unhealthy.
Even if someone's mental issue is not dangerous, it's treatment should be provided to keep it from becoming dangerous.
