mandate Congress, in its entirety, to watch the movie "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington"

Created by M.E. on May 08, 2013

In order to remind members of Congress of their duty to the people that they are obligated to represent, a day will be selected in which all members of the Senate and the House of Representatives will be mandated to watch a screening of the film "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington."

Public opinion of Congress is at an extreme low. Public distrust is at an extreme high. With scandal running rampant on Capitol Hill and members of Congress perceived as "blowing off" the voices of the People, it is time to get back to basics and hold them accountable.

Our elected representatives must never forget that they exist for the People. Measures such as the above proposed are vital in combating self interest, corruption and blatant partisanship from the most powerful men and women in our nation.
