At this time random drug testing can be considered discriminatory and is not done without major reason. However, many nurses and doctors may suspect the infant has been exposed to drug, but testing is not done without probable cause. This increases the complications and does not allow for proper treatment of the newborn. If every infant after brith was drug tested, the infant could recieve the proper treatment and potentially cause better outcomes for thos testing positive.
