Mandate that every school have a lock box of pepper spray in every classroom and office to use in case of an assailant.

Imagine if the kindergarten teacher at Sandy Hook was able to unlock a bottle of pepper spray and spray the gunman in the face when he opened the door. Her life and that of many others might have been saved. I believe that if there was locked pepper spray in every classroom that teachers would feel more empowered with an ability to protect their students from an assailant with a knife, gun or another type of weapon. If a gunman entered the school, someone would be able to get pepper spray and spray the assailant. Pepper spray can be used by anyone of any shape, size, disability etc. Pepper spray is nonlethal but effective and can be sprayed up to ten feet away. I want teachers to feel empowered and not helpless.
