Like Switzerland, everyone 18 years of age and older, who is physically and mentally able to care a gun should be required to be required to own a gun. A gun is just like a fire extinguisher in being effective in an emergency. Also since the Federal government already mandates everyone carry healthcare for their security, so should the Federal government require everyone to have a gun for their own safety. After all, you have no idea when some madman is going to break in to your place and hack you to death with a knife or poison you, let alone shoot at you.
