Mandate that gun owners purchase insurance to cover any potential injuries they may cause, as is done with cars.

Many parallels are drawn between guns and cars whenever gun violence makes the national stage, with many pointing out that cars kill more people than guns. With this in mind, as car owners are mandated to have insurance to cover any injuries, fatalities, and/or property damage caused in the course of operating one's vehicle, gun owners should be required to hold similar insurance. This would encourage better gun safety practices and help cover medical costs for innocent victims of gunshot wounds.
