Every day citizens interact with the authorities for various reasons but have only the most basic of understanding of the laws and their rights. The people deserve to be more well informed at a younger age of the laws they are required to follow. We should be formally taught what rights we have when dealing with local law enforcement and the judicial system. I propose that over the next 8 years that a legal course to teach practical knowledge of the local and state laws be required as a mandatory course in high schools across the country.
