Mandate that organ and tissue donation education become a part of required school curriculum.

There is a growing need for donated organs and tissues in the United States that far surpasses those currently available. At this time, there are nearly 125,000 U.S. citizens on the transplant waiting list and every 10 minutes another person is added. Unfortunately, about 18 people die each day due to a shortage of donated organs. It is essential that we find a way to increase the supply of donated organs so we can minimize the amount of these unnecessary, tragic deaths. In order to do this, we must continue our efforts to educate the public, especially the youth of our nation, on this topic. We ask our federal government to support donation awareness by mandating that organ and tissue donation education become a requirement in the high school health or science curriculum of every state.
