Family and Medical Leave Act has not been updated in over 20 years. It mandates that mothers and fathers can take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave. A vast majority of countries mandate paid leave of various lengths and America is lagging behind. Protection and support of families should be a fundamental human right, especially in the earliest days of a child's life.
