Mandate paid maternity and paternity leave

Created by N.M. on January 05, 2016

A recent study shows that the US is THE worst country for maternity leave. While the Family Medical Leave Act allows workers up to 12 weeks of leave per year, this leave is unpaid and is not a feasible option for a majority of families. We ask that the White House take action and mandate that employers, with an appropriate amount of employees, are required to offer paid paternity and maternity leave. Additional paid leave should be mandated for parents of babies born prematurely or born with serious medical issues."Almost half of the workforce is now women, married couples are increasingly sharing childcare responsibilities" and the U.S. needs to rise to the needs of the changing world. This mandate will build the middle class, increase the female workforce, and encourage growth.
