mandate paid maternity leave of six months or more.

Created by N.C. on December 01, 2015

The United States currently does not offer paid maternity leave. This forces parents to choose between succeeding in careers and caring for their newborn child. Some private companies have taken it upon themselves to offer more paid time off, however, this should not be a selective right offered to only a selective group of people and the government should do what is right which is to allow parents to care for their children. All children should have the right to a foundation of family and should not be forced into institutions that cannot replace the love of a parent. FMLA is a joke and needs to be reevaluated and turned into something that actually allows parents the peace of mind to care for their children instead of wondering where their meal will come from if they take the time off.
