Mandate that people on Unemployment work at least three days a week in areas where shortages exist in the work force.

Created by M.C. on October 29, 2011

Given the high number of people receiving unemployment. I propose a mandate for people collecting unemployment to work three days a week in areas where finding help is difficult. Two recent examples I have seen include: harvesting crops, such as sweet potatoes in Alabama and apples in Washington state. Doesn't have to be limited to crop harvesting, could include other areas. The apple industry was offering $150.00 per day and not getting much of a response. By mandating that the unemployed take various temporary jobs they could get paid for working three days and the government would only pay for two days unemployment compensation. They would pay taxes generating revenue for the government and save sixty percent a week in compensation benefits. Two days would exist for job hunting.
