mandate that the Presidential oath of office be sworn on a copy of the Constitution, rather than a bible.

Created by N.N. on January 22, 2013

Currently, the Presidential oath of office is sworn over a copy of the bible; in general, US and State oaths of office are sworn over copies of religious texts. When it comes to government in the United States, religion has no place, and properly so. Oaths of allegiance to our country or government should be sworn over the Constitution, not a religious text whose contents relate only obliquely to the allegiance being sworn.
