Veterans should get the day set aside to honor them (Veterans Day), especially those who work for private businesses. Only 20% of private American companies recognize Veterans Day with a paid day off for their employees. Veterans working for private companies should get a paid Veterans Day off to enjoy the day without having to use their vacation, sick leave, etc. It is wrong that government institutions allow their employees the full day off (paid) while many of those employees in government institutions never served a day in uniform, while veterans working in private sector jobs are not allowed to have a paid Veterans Day off.
