Educate the public on the difference between a military weapon described as a true assault weapon that is a select fire weapon such as the M16 that fires full automatic when depressing the trigger only once versus the so called look alike AR-15 civilian version (more correctly called sporting firearm) that fires in a semi auto mode, one bullet at a time with each pull of the trigger just like many other firearms in use by civilians today such as pistols, rifles, and shotguns used in the home for self and family defense, target shooting, competition shooting, and hunting among other uses.
